What is a Foodbank?
A foodbank
gives three days of nutritionally balanced food and support for
people who are in crisis and facing difficult choices about meeting financial
obligations or going hungry. The foodbank network is now helping
communities across the West Midlands to meet the needs of their neighbours by setting up a foodbank
in their own locality.
The very
first foodbank began in Salisbury, and with 10 years of expertise,
the charity now has 70 foodbanks
feeding people in need all over the UK.
In setting up a foodbank we will:
·Work with local churches to mobilise volunteers and resources
·Link with statutory agencies for client referrals
·Partner with local schools, businesses and supermarkets for food
donations
·Pray with and for people in need in your community
